Psychiatry for teen girls & women throughout montana

Thoughtful psychiatric care, wherever you live in Montana.

I’m Dr. Alexis Anderson, a Bozeman-based psychiatrist providing psychotherapy and psychiatry by telehealth for teen girls and women throughout the state. My practice focuses on depression, anxiety, ADHD, and attention difficulties, with a particular focus on hormonal transitions, especially perimenopause.

Psychotherapy is central to every appointment, with medication only when necessary. Care is provided within one ongoing therapeutic relationship, with the time and continuity to understand your story.

Telehealth Psychiatry Across Montana

Secure video appointments allow us to work together from your home or another private space, whether you live in Bozeman, Billings, Missoula, Helena, Great Falls, Kalispell, or elsewhere in Montana.

The practice is based in Bozeman; appointments are provided by telehealth. Patients must be physically located in Montana at the time of each appointment.

Psychiatry for Teen Girls and Families

I meet with each teen girl weekly, bringing psychotherapy and psychiatry together in a relationship she can trust.

I work with teen girls experiencing depression, anxiety, ADHD, attention difficulties, perfectionism, and relationship challenges. Our work makes room for her perspective while considering school, friendships, family relationships, sleep, and relevant hormonal changes.

Parents bring a perspective I value and one that complements what I learn from their daughter. I meet with parents regularly to hear what you are seeing, discuss what to expect, and guide how best to support her. We establish expectations for communication and privacy at the outset.

When helpful, we include family therapy—a space for the conversations that are hardest to have at home.

Psychiatry for Women

I work with women seeking an ongoing relationship with a psychiatrist who provides both psychotherapy and psychiatric care.

You may be seeking help with depression, anxiety, ADHD, attention difficulties, or disrupted sleep. You may also want space to understand the emotional demands of relationships, work, parenting, caregiving, or a significant life transition.

Our work combines thoughtful exploration with practical tools for daily life. Medication, when necessary, is considered within the same therapeutic relationship.

A Focus on Perimenopause and Hormonal Transitions

Hormonal transitions are an area of focus in my practice, especially perimenopause.

I work with women seeking help with mood changes, increased anxiety, insomnia, brain fog, and worsening ADHD symptoms during this transition. We explore what has changed, how it affects your daily life, and how it fits with your previous experiences.

Hormone-informed care considers hormonal factors alongside your psychiatric history, physical health, sleep, relationships, and present circumstances. Treatment reflects that broader understanding rather than assuming a single explanation.

I provide psychotherapy and prescribe psychiatric medications when necessary. I do not prescribe menopause hormone therapy. When hormone treatment is part of your care, I collaborate with your OB/GYN or menopause clinician as appropriate.

What Treatment Includes

Every appointment includes psychotherapy. I combine psychodynamic psychotherapy and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), tailoring our work to your needs and goals.

Care may also include:

  • Comprehensive psychiatric assessment

  • Psychiatric medication prescribing and monitoring when necessary

  • Practical strategies for attention, daily routines, and coping

  • Consideration of sleep, stress, physical health, and hormonal history

  • Regular parent meetings and family therapy when helpful

  • Coordination with your pediatrician, primary care clinician, OB/GYN, or other treating professionals

I do not offer medication-management-only appointments.
